I grew up absolutely hating poetry, mostly because of the way it was thrust down our throats in English class. It was either too complicated to understand or so embedded in the past that it seemed irrelevant to contemporary life. And there was only one interpretation…the teacher’s! But the world has changed, and so has my approach to appreciating and writing poetry. Here are a few of mine that I’m not too embarrassed to share!
